New Testing Methods Enhance Flexible Anode Operational Efficiency

China Industrial Anti-Corrosion Association recently released the "Technical Guidelines for Operation and Maintenance of Polymer Flexible Anode Systems" in collaboration with multiple research institutions, first time proposing electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS)-based anode condition assessment methods. This technology enables accurate determination of anode aging degree and remaining service life by analyzing frequency response characteristics at the anode/electrolyte interface.New Testing Methods Enhance Flexible Anode Operational Efficiency

Traditional maintenance methods primarily rely on periodic grounding resistance and protection potential measurements, making early performance degradation difficult to detect. The new method employs multi-frequency scanning technology to quantitatively analyze polymer material degradation degree and carbon powder loss rate through equivalent circuit modeling. Field tests demonstrate this technology can provide Fault Warning advance notice of over 12 months with false alarm rates below 5%.

Currently, this technology has been implemented in multiple key projects. One urban gas company reduced annual maintenance costs by 35% and emergency repairs by 60% after deploying intelligent monitoring systems across 200 kilometers of pipeline network. The association's technical committee stated they will further improve relevant standard systems to promote industry transition towards predictive maintenance models. Widespread adoption of this new technology is expected to save approximately 1.5 billion yuan in annual corrosion maintenance costs nationwide.
